Hello, Georgia

Georgia. Relaxing Georgia.

Also, slightly boring.

But just to let you know I'm now in Georgia, enjoying the pre-fall weather and my aunt's many pets. Seriously, she has like 13, 14 animals in her house.

Btw, I just noticed - doesn't the guy on the right looks like he wants to KILL ME???

Please, dude, it's just a picture....  I cherish my life....

Goodbye Seattle, But Not For Long

I'm leaving Seattle tomorrow for Georgia, where I have some family. As a fond farewell, Mom, Dad and I went for our last bike ride together. We went on the Alki Trail, which basically followed Seattle's beautfiul coast for a good hour's ride.

So, goodbye Seattle - but I'll be back in October.

May your bike lanes never crumble.

Photo Dump

Had a pretty full day, biking. But am again too tired, so will just post a whole bunch of pictures.

So....appearently all the children in this neighborhood are dressed like Christmas elves. That's fine with me.

The Gas Works Park in Seattle - none of these buildings/pipes work any more, but they sure do look cool.

I spy - downtown Seattle. Still at Gas Works Park.

A father teaching his sons the art of URBAN RUNNING. These kids weren't much older than 7 or 8 - not kidding. These kids will grow up to be so awesome one day.

This child is afraid of NOTHING.

Mom and Dad try to figure out how they ended up at the park.

The beautiful Elliot Park.

This is what happens when you try to hug water.
You become a statue.

So Tired I Could Eat My Foot ... But I'm Too Tired

Been biking all day. I luv my bike, Megatron - but I think even he is pooped out.

We didn't rent a car, because it's far to exspensive, so our legs/bikes are the replacement - and now I know what a car feels - taking people places - oh, the suffering!!

MY LEGS ARE NOT A CAR.

Pictured Above: not my legs.

On the up side, this gives me much-needed exercise :D

Oh, here's link to a 13 year-old's blog. The catch is that she is considered to be one of the best fashion critics BY THE FASHION WORLD.

Jeez, when I was 13, I was struggling to break the habit of picking my nose.

Anyways, here's her blog - her outfits are pretty cool - wonderful sense of layering and really gives a complete feeling:

And now: bed.

U-Dub

By those who live in Seattle, the University of Washington is called "U-dub". We road our AWESOME bikes all of about 10 miles from where we're staying to the legendary university campus.

And this is what we saw (prepare yourself) :

Yeah - they have a FOUNTAIN.

Not to mention how big this thing is - it would take me a good 4 or 5 minutes to walk around this monster of a fountain. I thought the economy was in a recession???

And that's not all! Feast your eyes on this:

They have a ROSE GARDEN, that surrounds the fountain.

Take THAT, Economy - oh, did you see our GIGANTIC ROSE GARDEN? Smell that? That's the smell of a well-endowed institute. Enjoy!

Ok, I'm just poking fun. Really, it was incredibley beautiful. Dad was so pleased with the school and how easy it was to explore the campus on bikes.

Seattle keeps surprising us how bike-friendly it is. Even the famous Greenlake park was well-populated with bikes and bike-roads. It was a lovely, sunny day, allowing the people of Seattle to enjoy the cool waters of Greenlake.

"Autobots, roll out!"

Arrr - Here be Dad putting together his new folding tandum bike. Yes, it FOLDS, and is a bike meant for TWO.

HOW AWESOME IS THAT?

We had ordered them online from a company called Bike Friday - a little known producer of top-notch folding bikes. Their bikes are adorable but are also serious bikes - with a capital S. Grrr...

He, Mom and I rode to Montlake, Seattle, from Beacon Hill - about 10 miles, and then back again. He and mom rode the tandum and got lots of smiles and stares. Hey, wadya know, my parents were rockin' out on the tandum, being oh so cool.

I myself have a single folding bike. It's blue, it folds, it's a bit petite - AND I LOVE IT. It's really cool to see these things fold up - the back wheel lifts up and over, and the handles come off - just small enough to put into your grocery cart!

I've decided to name my bike MEGATRON.

*Transformers~ more than meets the eyeeee~*

My parents don't get the reference.

Ok, so they need to work on their coolness.

The End of Saint Olaf

So St. Olaf is taken care of - Last week I met up with my parents in MSP airport and drove down to school to collect my clothes and pillows and other college things that were in storage.

There were a few classmates I ran into, at which point I conviniently forgot to mention that I was leaving St. Olaf and mostly probably never EVER coming back. It would have made for very awkward conversation.

Less awkward, though, was staying at my grandmother's. My grandmother, who is completely sweet and lovely, with an appreciation for gardens and homeless cats has a lovely home. Sunny, warm, rural Georgian home - it was so relaxing, it almost felt like a coma.

I didn't take a picture of the house, but here is a sketch:

Yessir, it was relaxin-zzzzzzz........
